This recipe for roasted duck legs is very simple. All that you need to do is to rub the duck legs with salt, place them in a baking dish and put them in the oven for two hours. The meat is baked at a low temperature, in aromatic duck fat combined with cranberries.

I make this kind of duck for special occasions. I usually serve it with mashed potatoes and red cabbage.

Ingredients for roasted duck legs.

  • 800 g duck legs
  • 1 full teaspoon of salt
  • 6-7 springs of fresh thyme
  • 3-4 big cloves of garlic
  • 1 anise star
  • 100 g dried cranberries
  • 150 ml water

How to make roasted duck legs.

Pour water into a bowl, add cranberries and set it aside for 20 minutes. Rub the duck legs with salt.

Put the soaked cranberries with water, thyme, anise star and garlic into a baking dish and arrange the duck legs on top of them. Place the dish in an oven preheated to 160 degrees Celsius for two hours. After an hour of baking, turn the duck legs over.

Good to know when making roasted duck legs.

The duck legs can be drizzled with the melting fat from time to time during baking.

I did not cover the dish in which the meat was baked, I left it open.

I usually serve duck legs with warm red cabbage salad or cold red cabbage.
