Leek, apple and radish slaw
Leek works great in both salads and slaws. It pairs deliciously with other vegetables, meats and herbs. In slaws, leek can be combined with apple, carrot, radish, corn or even cabbage. This type of combination tastes great with a light olive oil based dressing or flavoured with yoghurt, mayonnaise or sour cream.
Slaw with leek, apples and radishes is a proven recipe for a dinner slaw. It is a slaw made from fresh vegetables and fruits, thanks to which it acquires a slightly spicy and sweet taste. Leek and radish give the slaw sharpness, while the vine and juicy apple makes it also have a hint of sweetness. In addition to the already mentioned ingredients, I also added pecans and seasoned the whole thing with mayonnaise and natural yoghurt. This slaw can be served as an accompaniment to almost any kind of meat. Below are some suggestions for main dishes, with which you can serve this leek slaw.
- minced meat cakes stuffed with mushrooms
- chicken de volaille with butter
- roasted spicy chicken legs
- traditional pork cutlet
I recommend you to prepare this slaw, because it is super simple and at the same time quick to make. This leek slaw can be prepared in 10 minutes, all you need to do is cut all the ingredients and combine them together. Good to know when making leek, apple and radish slaw.
I added the apple with the peel. Before slicing it, I washed it thoroughly, dried it and removed the seeds. A soft, sweet and juicy apple variety works best in this salad.
The pecans can be replaced with walnuts.
Himalayan salt can be replaced with iodized salt, but I suggest using a smaller amount.
