Burger buns
This recipe is for the best burger buns. The buns are easy to prepare, extremely soft and tasty. The basis of the buns is flour combined with yeast, water and butter. I did not add eggs to the dough, because in my opinion they are unnecessary.
Homemade burger buns definitely differ in taste from those bought at the store. Shop-bought buns are usually very sweet and their texture is almost like paper. So if you have some free time, I recommend you to make your own burger buns. They can be frozen so you can have them for later. Just place them in a bag or a plastic container and keep them in the freezer. After defrosting, they will taste just like fresh ones.

Ingredients for burger buns.
- 400 g all-purpose flour + a little bit for dusting the dough
- 210 g lukewarm water
- 15 g fresh yeast
- 1,5 tablespoon of crystal sugar
- 50 g soft butter
- 1 and 1/4 teaspoon of salt
Additionally:
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of melted butter
- sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon of water
How to make burger buns.
Put the yeast, sugar, 90 g of water and 2 tablespoons of flour into a cup. Stir and set aside in a warm place for 10 minutes.
Sift the remaining flour with salt to a bowl and add soft butter, leavened yeast and the remaining lukewarm water. Knead for 8 minutes. A soft and elastic dough should form. Leave the dough in the bowl, cover with a cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour.
Once the dough has risen, put it on a pastry board lightly dusted with some flour. Tap the dough a little with your hand to break out a little air (do not knead it), then form 8 balls from it. Slightly flatten each balls in your hand and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Combine the egg with water in a cup, then brush each bun. Sprinkle the top of the buns with sesame seeds and leave them to rise for about 20-25 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius and once hot, put in the risen buns. Bake the buns for 22 to 25 minutes. Remove the buns from the oven and brush them with melted butter immediately. Let them cool down.

Good to know when making burger buns.
Each ball of dough had a diameter of 6 centimetres after they were flattened.
If you want your buns to be a bit more golden on top, keep them in the oven for a little longer. It also depends on how your oven bakes. If you see the buns are ready after 20 minutes, remove them after that time.
You don’t need to sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the buns. You can leave them plain if you prefer them like that.
