Making homemade kissel is not difficult. You just need fruits, water and potato flour. It is important that the fruits you use are fresh and of good quality. That’s it.

Ingredients for homemade kissel.
- 350 g strawberries
- 3 tablespoons of crystal sugar
- 2 tablespoons of potato flour
- 500 ml water
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
How to make homemade strawberry kissel.
Rinse the strawberries, cut off the stalks and cut the fruits into small pieces. Put the chopped strawberries in a pot, add sugar, 400 ml of water and lemon juice. Bring it to a boil, then simmer for 30 seconds from the moment the strawberries start to boil.
Dissolve potato flour with 100 ml of water in a cup, then pour it over the boiling strawberries. Bring it back to a boil, while stirring constantly. Keep it on the heat for 1-2 minutes from the moment it starts boiling again. Serve the kissel warm.
Good to know when making homemade kissel.

It is important that the strawberries you use are sweet. I recently bought some strawberries, which were picked after rain and they would not be suitable for this dessert, because they had no sweetness in them.
You can replace the sugar with honey or maple syrup.
