The best chocolate cake
The title speaks for itself 😉
Seriously, the recipe I want to share with you today is sensational.
The first time I made this cake was about two years ago. Since then I changed proportions and ingredients a bit.
I think that now the recipe is complete and I have no intention to change it further.
I already shared it some time ago with a friend who since then managed to try it (she is still alive so I guess all turned out well :-D). The most important thing is that her children loved it. As she told me, they are very fussy eaters and even they have been “hoovering” that cake 😀
It has never happened that the cake was not baked well. I was never able to bake a sad layer 🙂

Ingredients for the best chocolate cake.
- 350 g flour
- 250 g caster sugar
- 1 and 1/4Â teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 and 1/4Â teaspoon of soda
- 2Â eggs
- 60 g cocoa
- 1Â teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 200 ml of milk
- 120 ml sunflower oil
- 100 g of dark chocolate
- 1/2Â teaspoon of grated orange zest
- juice from one big orange
- 100 ml of boiling water
Chocolate glaze:
- 2Â tablespoons of butter or margarine
- 2Â tablespoons of sugar
- 2Â tablespoons of water
- 2Â tablespoons of cocoa
How to prepare the best chocolate cake.
Mix sifted flour with caster sugar, baking powder, soda, cocoa and orange zest in a bowl. Combine the eggs, vanilla extract, orange juice, milk and oil in a separate bowl. Pour boiling water into a cup and dissolve the chocolate in it.
Pour a mixture of milk, oil, eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl containing the flour and the other dry ingredients. Mix it gently with a spoon. At the end add the boiling water with the melted chocolate. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about an hour and 20 minutes.
Chocolate glaze: put all the ingredients into the pot. Cook over a medium heat for around 2 minutes starting from the point when it starts boiling. Stir constantly.

Good to know when making the best chocolate cake.
The caster sugar can be replaced with cane sugar.
It is worth checking on the cake after an hour passes. Depending on the form which is used for baking it may need less time to bake. I used a 20 cm wide form.
I recently served this a cake with coconut ice cream. It tasted insanely good 🙂
