Spicy cheese balls

Cheese balls are a perfect snack for events or movie nights or afternoons when you just want to munch something. They are also great as lunch or picnic food.

Ingredients for cheese balls.
- 250 g quark cheese
- 3 flat tablespoons of chopped spicy pepper e.g. chili
- 1/3 teaspoon of salt
- 2 small eggs
- 8 tablespoons of breadcrumbs
- sunflower oil for frying
How to make spicy cheese balls.
Put cheese, finely chopped chili and salt in a bowl and mix thoroughly. From the mixture form small balls (about 3 centimetres in diameter) .
Prepare two small bowls. In the first one, break the eggs and whisk them with a fork. Pour breadcrumbs into the second bowl.
Coat the balls first in the egg bath and then in the breadcrumbs. Repeat these steps twice.
Heat up oil in a pot and insert the balls. Fry until golden brown (not for too long, however, as the cheese may start to flow from the balls).
Drain the fried balls on a paper towel. Serve the balls with spicy sauce or ketchup.

Good to know when making spicy cheese balls.

If you like spicy dishes use a lot of very spicy chili pepper. I had a medium spicy one at home so I used that one.
The balls should be fried for about a minute. The sooner they turn golden brown, the better. Do not fry the balls for too long, otherwise the cheese will start flowing out from them.
The cheese you use should be taken straight from the fridge.
If the cheese sticks to your hands while forming the balls, soak your hands in cold water and only then start forming the balls.
You can replace the quark cheese with cream cheese. By doing so, the cheese balls will have a creamier consistency. The cream cheese will be a bit more difficult to shape, however.
