These scrolls I prepared originally supposed to have the shape of croissants but during the making the plan changed 🙂

I love puff pastry because you can do a lot of delicious things out of it. Let it be sweet or savoury, it does not matter. One thing is for sure, it will be fast. Nowadays, when we all are running somewhere and we don’t have much time, puff pastry is irreplaceable in many cuisines. Of course, only if you buy it in the shop. Home -made ones would take a lot of time to prepare. Scrolls with ham and cheese are perfect examples for a snack to be served during a party.

Ingredients for puff pastry scrolls.

  • 1 and 1/2 pack of  puff pastry (one pack weighted 275 grams)
  • 6 slices of Ementaler cheese (large pieces 10×10 centimetres)
  • 8 slices of ham (large pieces 10×10 centimetres)
  • 1 tablespoon of black sesame seeds
  • 1 egg

How to make puff pastry snacks.

The puff pastry should be cold when working with it. It is best when it is removed directly from the refrigerator and prepared immediately.

Place the pastry on the counter. Cut out two circles out of it. For that you can use a plate: just put it on the pastry and cut it around with a knife. Place the ham and then the cheese on each other on each circle, starting from the edge. If you have big slices of ham or cheese, cut them in half. Also, they should slightly overlap each other. Cut each circle into eight equal triangles. Wrap the triangles towards the center, starting from the bottom of the triangle. Brush the scrolls with a beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds on top.

Put them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake on 180 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes.

Enjoy!

Good to know when making puff pastry scrolls.

From the amount of puff pastry in the recipe I got exactly two circles, that is sixteen scrolls. In this amount I also used up the scraps of the pastry from the first circle.
