I am not a vegetarian and yet I love vegetarian dishes. Properly prepared and seasoned, they taste fantastic. Vegetarian dishes are much cheaper to make and not as complicated as they seem for some people.
Today’s recipe is for carrot burgers served with pea sauce. This combination of carrot and pea is popular and works well. These burgers are juicy, the burger patty is light and healthy. You can serve them for lunch or dinner, as a snack for your guests, or take them to work as lunch.
I made the burgers for my family and had them while watching TV. Additionally, when making the burger patty, I also used chili pepper. Although it was dried, it gave the burgers a slightly spicy taste.

How to make carrot burgers.
Grate the carrots on a large-mesh grater and put them in a bowl. Add semolina, chili, eggs and salt. Stir and set aside for 30 minutes. After that, form balls from the carrot mass, then flatten them on your hand to make burger patties with a diameter of 8 centimetres. Roll each burger patty in breadcrumbs, then place them on a baking try lined with baking paper. Bake the burgers in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius for an hour. Halfway through the baking time, carefully flip the burgers over.
Put frozen green peas into a pot, add water and salt. Bring it to a boil, then keep cooking on a medium heat for 15 minutes. Once cooked, let it cool down. Add cream, garlic and lemon juice to the cold peas (in which only a little water should remain). Mix to a homogeneous mixture.
Cut the burger buns lengthwise. Place them in an oven and warm them up for a minute, placing each bun with the cut side down.
Remove the buns from the oven, brush the bottom of each bun with the pea sauce, put the carrot burger patty on each, then cover with the sauce again. Put the sprouts on it top of the last layer of pea sauce. Cover with the top part of the bun.

Good to know when making carrot burgers.
The pea sauce can be seasoned with a little salt. It is worth tasting it first, and then add salt if needed.
You can add cheese to your burgers, unless of course if you are vegan.
The carrot mix is quite runny, therefore the balls made from the mixture should be coated in breadcrumbs and immediately put on a baking tray.
