Barbecue sauce, also known as BBQ, is a thick sauce based on tomatoes, vinegar and spices. The spices that can be found in this sauce are sugar, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, molasses and many others depending on the region where the sauce is prepared. BBQ sauce is the perfect addition to grilled meat, ribs or chicken. It works well as a marinade as well as a side sauce served with various dishes. The preparation of barbecue sauce is extremely quick, and the sauce itself is worth trying. Below is a recipe for a barbecue sauce that you can make in less than 10 minutes.

Ingredients for barbecue sauce.
- 300 ml light ketchup
- 3 tablespoons of light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of smoked chipotle pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of molasses
How to make barbecue sauce.
Put all the ingredients in a pot, bring them to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let the sauce cool down.

Good to know when making barbecue sauce.
The sauce can be prepared with ketchup, tomato sauce or tomato paste.
When it comes to spices, the sauce can be seasoned with smoked paprika powder, chili powder or smoked chipotle peppers. I usually choose either smoked paprika or chipotle paprika, both of which gives the sauce a smoky flavour.
