For almost every weekend, I try to make a salad or a cold snack. You never know when family or friends decide to visit and I like to be prepared for such unannounced visits. However, it is not always possible, and in such situations, quick dishes made of widely available ingredients are my salvation. One such dish is Swiss salad, which is made from ham, cheese and gherkins. I think you can easily find these ingredients in your fridge or pantry.
I season the Swiss salad with mustard, yoghurt and mayonnaise. I also add fresh parsley, salt and pepper to it. I try to be careful with salt, because cheese, ham and gherkins all have lots of it, so it’s best to add salt at the very end, after mixing the other ingredients with each other. You can also use fresh chives and smoked paprika to season the salad.
I serve this Swiss salad with bread at all kinds of special events and gatherings with friends. If you haven’t made this salad yet, I leave you below a recipe for a Swiss salad and I wish you a tasty one.

Good to know when making Swiss salad.
A type of cheese I use often in various dishes is Gouda cheese, which is why I added this cheese to the salad. However, you can replace it with any type of cheese of your choice, such as Emmental or Swiss cheese.
The ingredients of this salad such as ham, cheese and gherkins can be cut into cubes instead of strips. I add the gherkins with the peel, and after cutting them, I do not pour off the excess brine.
