The first time I made this salad it was by accident.
I was on vacation in a place where figs grow in every garden.
I was searching on the internet for some inspiration but somehow there was nothing I liked 100% that would make me want to try to recreate the recipe.
So I made a very simple yet delicious salad myself.
Ideal for hot summer days, because it is light and fresh but at the same time it can fill you up just enough.

Ingredients for fig salad.
- package of arugula salad (100 g)
- 12 figs
- 100 g of goat cheese
- 6 slices of Parma ham
- black pepper
- small red onion
Sauce: As for the sauce, you can buy ready-made sauces based on balsamic vinegar. At home, I have a balsamic vinegar made of figs.
During my holiday I did not have the possibility of buying such a sauce so made it myself 馃檪 It was equally delicious.
- 10 figs
- 3/4 cup red wine (dry)
How to make salad with figs and arugula.
Cut the figs in half and wrap half a slice of Parma ham around each half of fig. Grill them. (25 minutes 160 degrees Celsius)
This portion is the portion for 4 people. Arrange arugula salad on plates. On the top of it put small pieces of goat cheese, grilled figs and thinly sliced red onion. At the end pour the sauce on the salad and sprinkle with some black pepper.
The sauce I made is very simple. I took out the pulp, I added the wine to it and cooked it over a low heat until it got slightly thickened. Once done I put it all through a fine strainer.

Good to know when making fig and goat cheese salad.
The figs, which I used were of medium size. If you use larger figs then you may want to reduce their amount when making the sauce.
When I made this salad for the first time I added red onion to it. Later on, when I recreated the recipe at home, I did it without onions. The version with red onion is sensational, I would rather recommend that version to you 馃檪
