Fondant potatoes

| | |

Fondant potatoes is a dish originating from France. It is a dish in which the potatoes, after peeling, are cut into cylinders, the ends are cut off, then the upright-standing potatoes are browned in butter. The pan-baked potatoes are transferred to a baking dish, broth is added and the whole thing is baked until the potatoes become tender. Potatoes prepared in this way are a great addition to meat dishes. They work well with roasted poultry, grilled fish and roasted beef. After baking, the potatoes have a beautiful herby smell, thanks to the garlic and thyme. I recommend you the following recipe for fondant potatoes and I wish you a tasty one.

Good to know when making fondant potatoes.

The potatoes had a length of 5 centimetres after cutting off the ends.

I fry garlic with potatoes for the first 3 minutes. Afterwards, I take it out on a plate and add it back to the potatoes only when I put the potatoes in the oven.

If the pan on which you fry the potatoes has a metal handle, then such a pan can be safely put in the oven. Otherwise, put the potatoes with the broth and herbs into a heat-resistant dish or baking tin.

The baking time of the potatoes depends on the size and type of potatoes used. After 40 minutes of baking, you can start checking how soft the baking potatoes are. Before taking the potatoes out of the oven, make sure they are soft and properly baked. It is best to prick them with a fork or a toothpick first. From time to time, you can pour some of the butter broth the potatoes are baking in over the potatoes.
