I am not a vegetarian but I often eat dishes prepared only with vegetables, that includes veg burgers.
One of my favorites vegetarian dishes is definitely vegetarian burger. I will try to share a recipe for it with you soon.
Today I have a recipe for burgers made only with celeriac. Of course, it is still vegetarian 🙂
I served these burgers to my friends and they were very surprised that instead of meat I used vegetables because they were not able to tell the difference after the first few bites 🙂
Ingredients for celeriac burgers.
- 600 g of celeriac (root)
- 2 eggs
- 5 tablespoons of breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- additionally: cheese, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, thousand island sauce, onion, burger rolls
How to prepare vegetarian burgers.
Peel the celeriac and grate it on a medium-sized grater. Put the grated celery in a bowl, add the eggs, salt, pepper and breadcrumbs. Mix it very carefully and form them into small balls with your hands. Flatten them on the palm. The burgers I made were more than two centimeters thick. Place the burgers on a baking paper then put them in the oven and bake for 50 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. Turn them around halfway into the baking time.
Serve the ready-made burgers with any vegetable and sauce. I used a thousand islands sauce for mine but you can use ketchup, mayonnaise, bbq or even garlic sauce.
Good to know when making celeriac burgers.
Home-made thousand islands sauce is nothing else but a combination of ketchup, mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce and a touch of orange juice. It is worth trying this sauce as it gives the burgers a slightly spicy taste.
